Objective

The Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology Study Program (NFT) department has vision “to be an international education and research center in the field of tropical feed and nutrition as to produce human resources with entrepreneurship characteristic“.  With The missions of the NFT study program are: (1) to apply modern higher education to produce high quality graduates who are able to utilize local feedstuffs resources, to develop animal industry, and to increase human resources with entrepreneurship characteristic as to face the globalization era, (2) to apply and develop sciences in the field of tropical nutrition and feed technology through high quality research programs as to support education processes, problem solving related to tropical nutrition and feed technology, and (3) to improve community services by providing high quality experts and programs related to tropical nutrition and feed technology

In specific, NFT program objectives is to produce graduates that:

1. Able to explain tropical potential feedstuffs and forage as well as to apply feed technology as to improve feed quality and feed efficiency.
2. Able to establish/construct pasture area, and to produce forage based on available potential areas.
3. Able to explain the functions, utilizations, and metabolism of nutrients as well as nutrition engineering  for efficient animal production with less polluted/healthy environment 
4. Able to apply feed production technology and feeding system as to produce wholesome and high quality and efficient animal products 
5. Able to formulate animal diet/feed, to design feed production, and to control feed quality in the feed industries
6. Able to solve problems in the field of nutrition and feed technology through data analysis,  and to interpret the result using scientific appropriate methods
7. Able to  communicate with colleagues, think analytically/critical thinking, creative, and innovative in their duties/tasks
8. Able to take responsibility, to lead in group(s) as well as in individual, have flexibility and sustainability 
9. Able to use data, facts, ideas,  for problem solving with ethical profession and allow “life-long learning” in accordance with the development in science and technology

Curiculum

The 2020 Curriculum of The Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology Bachelor Program Is Designed For 8 Semesters.

NFT Program Study students must take a minimum of 144 credits to graduate. The course consists of 4 subject’s groups namely: 1) Common Core Program  (PPKU) (13 courses, 31 credits); 2) Inter-department (9 courses, 26 credits); 3) Nutrition and Feed Technology Major (28 courses, 77 credits; including 1 seminar credits and 6 thesis credits); 4) Minor / Options (Supporting Courses) (minimum 2 credits).

Preparation level courses are mandatory for every IPB University students. Subjects incorporated in the General Competency Educational Program are designed for the achievement of competencies predetermined by IPB University.

Inter-department courses are compulsory faculty subjects, intended to allow students to have basic competency which in general should be achieved by graduates from the Faculty of Animal Science.

Major courses are courses that must be taken by student in NFT Program. This course is intended to meet the competency that must be possessed by graduates of this program. The course includes 77 credits. In the final year the student must complete the final assignment, which is working on research for undergraduates thesis preparation. Before performing the thesis oral test, a student must first conduct a seminar.
