Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology, IPB University Cares for Livestock in Semeru

The Semeru eruption on Saturday, December 4, 2021, not only took human casualties, but also had an impact on livestock around Semeru. It was recorded that more than 3000 head of livestock experienced a feed crisis due to the loss of forage sources that were washed away by the Semeru lava. This brings concern to academics, including the academic community of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural University.

Head of the Matching Fund Sorinfer Program, Prof. Luki Abdullah, initiated feed assistance in the form of Sorinfer to the affected areas in the Candipuro and Pronojiwo areas. Assistance was provided through PT Prima Agrostis Nusantara as much as 20 tons of Sorinfer produced and shipped by truck. Sorinfer arrived at the location on December 9 and was received at the relief post for victims of the Semeru eruption.

Prof. Luki Abdullah said that sorinfer is a complete feed, so that farmers do not need to add more for their livestock. "Hopefully this assistance can help farmers and livestock in the Semeru area not to be neglected." Sorinfer can be stored and used in the long term so it can be very helpful for farmers.
